Viola Davis' daughter dressed up as her for Halloween
Viola Davis made history a few weeks ago when she became the first black actress to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama, giving one of the night’s best acceptance speeches. Not only have stars like Shonda Rhimes, Ellen DeGeneres, and Oprah Winfrey celebrated Davis’ win, but her own daughter has paid tribute to her mom’s Emmy moment with the ultimate (and most adorable) honor.
Davis shared a photo of her daughter, Genesis, on Facebook, explaining that instead of going as a Disney princess for Halloween, her daughter decided on a far more inspirational costume: her mom.
Genesis is apparently one of her mom’s biggest fans. After Davis won her Emmy, her daughter celebrated by “hacking” her Instagram and posting a video to congratulate her mom. “I love you, Mommy, and I hope you win another Emmy!” she said.
