Singer Brittany Howard was part of an extended singalong of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Everyday People” during the first-ever episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last month, but the Alabama Shakes lead singer had her own spotlight on Wednesday’s episode. Howard and her band performed the song “Joe” for the Late Show audience, a B-side from the group’s most recent album Sound & Color.

A showcase for Howard’s powerful vocals, a live version of the gospel-infused track is available online via Spotify and iTunes.
