Tiny Beautiful Things
- Book
The Wild team of writer Cheryl Strayed, Reese Witherspoon, and Laura Dern are reuniting for a new drama currently in development at HBO based on Strayed’s collection of advice columns, Tiny Beautiful Things, the network confirmed to EW.
Tiny Beautiful Things is made up of a selection of Strayed’s advice columns known as Dear Sugar for The Rumpus, and was published in 2012. Though Strayed no longer publishes the column, Dear Sugar continues to live on as a biweekly podcast hosted by Strayed and original Sugar Steve Almond.

Strayed and her husband, Brian Lindstrom — a filmmaker who directed documentary Alien Boy: The Life and Death of James Chasse in 2013 — are set to write the TV adaptation, which they’ll also executive produce along with Witherspoon and Dern.
Witherspoon also produced Wild, the 2014 film she starred in based on Strayed’s 2012 memoir of the same name about her emotional hike on the Pacific Crest Trail following her mother’s death. Dern played Strayed’s mother in the film, and both she and Witherspoon went on to receive Oscar nominations for their performances.
