ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager aired its final episode back in 2013, with Amy Juergens packing her bags and heading for New York. But whatever became of the young mom and her budding family after she settled in across the country? Well, fans can rest easy since she is apparently living happily ever after.
In honor of the cast’s recent reunion, MTV News caught up with creator Brenda Hampton who answered a few burning questions, and while Amy (Shailene Woodley) never returned from New York, the whole gang managed to make their way out to the East Coast to join her.
According to Hampton, Ricky (Daren Kagasoff) and son John (Matthew and Joseph Levinson) followed Amy to New York and the two got married after finishing up school. Though she did hook up with high school love Ben (Ken Baumann) before settling down. (She quickly realized they were better off as friends.) But don’t worry – Ben turned out okay. He wrote his first book about her and it was a big-time best-seller.

“They loved the idea of being in love with the first person they loved in high school,” Hampton told MTV News, “but uh, just didn’t connect physically. If they had stayed together in high school, she probably would have realized this much sooner and he would have too. He just kind of lost himself in trying to obtain the unobtainable Amy.”
As for the rest of the crew? Anne (Molly Ringwald) is off traveling the world, George (Mark Derwin) moved into the same apartment building as Ricky and Amy, Grace (Megan Park) attends med school at NYU, and Jack (Greg Finley) and Madison (Renee Olstead) got hitched. And Adrian (Francia Raisa) and Omar (DeVaughn Nixon) took the Big Apple by storm, and now have two little ones of their own.
While Hampton revealed the show wouldn’t really be able to make a comeback now that Woodley “has become so successful,” she thanked the fans for their loyalty after five seasons on the air. Head over to MTV to read more revelations.
