Ryan Murphy has worked with some of the best actresses in Hollywood — including Julia Roberts, Jessica Lange, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kathy Bates — but there’s one particular star he’d like to bring into the Murphyverse of shows.

“Maybe Meryl,” as in Streep, Murphy told EW senior writer Tim Stack at EW Fest on Saturday when asked to name one of his “white whales.”

As Murphy recalled, he was the president of the Meryl Streep fan club in high school, so his interest is legit.

“It was so sad,” the American Horror Story mastermind said of the group. “There were, like, five of us. We would go see Sophie’s Choice, then go to Denny’s and break the film down.”

Despite not working with the three-time Oscar winner, Murphy has crossed paths with Streep as an adult, and he was able to tell her about his youthful exploits. “She’s another one who is just as great as you think she is,” he said.
