Jon Stewart and Farm Sanctuary to open New Jersey branch
Jon Stewart may not be keeping busy behind the desk of The Daily Show, but that hasn’t slowed the comedian down as he and his wife have announced a new venture.
Jon and Tracey Stewart announced at the Farm Sanctuary 2015 Gala that the couple will be partnering with the organization to open its fourth location, its first in New Jersey.
“We’re getting married. Farm Sanctuary and us, we’re getting married,” Tracey Stewart announced as the couple accepted the Gift of Life Award. The Stewarts bought a farm of their own to start a sanctuary but have decided to make it officially the New Jersey branch of the Farm Sanctuary organization. Tracey is also joining the Sanctuary’s Board of Directors after recently releasing her book Do Unto Others. And Jon never shied away from animal issues on The Daily Show, including coverage in the last year of his hosting stint calling out New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for vetoing a bill to ban pig gestation crates.
You can watch video from the event below of the announcement being made. The Stewarts’ sanctuary does not have an official opening date to the public, but it does have its two first residents already living on the Stewart homestead: Anna and Maybelle Stewart.
