Empire might be the most family-focused program outside of the Fast & Furious franchise. The workings of the Lyon dynasty is so dysfunctional and dramatic that you have to believe the actors and actresses get along off camera. Cookie herself confirmed as much to be true.

“We spend so much time together, it’s really like we’ve become a family,” Taraji P. Henson said during last weekend’s first ever EW Fest. She and costar Jussie Smollett went on to reveal to EW’s Tim Stack that they feel compelled to hang out at Empire patriarch Terrence Howard’s house, because of how sensitive he is: “He will cry!” Henson exclaimed.

The duo detail one outing where they ate sushi and lounged in gigantic beanbag chairs. They fell asleep and woke up at 11:20 p.m., then went home. Howard woke up later, sounding worried.

“He wakes up at 3 in the morning and calls Jussie: ‘Where did y’all go?!’ ” Henson said. Then, at the same time, she and Smollett told the crowd: “Like, HOME?!”
