Empire‘s tour de force Cookie is bold, outspoken, passionate… and definitely not modest. But Cookie actress Taraji P. Henson blushed during last weekend’s inaugural EW Fest when costar Jussie Smollett talked about her bottom — and apparently not for the first time.

“He talks about my butt everyday. I’m so used to it,” Henson said after shaking her head. “It’s amazing!” Smollett exclaimed.

Henson then described a particular scene in season 1 in which she slapped her behind — a move that wasn’t in the script. “I knew for a week I was going to do it,” she explained. (“We didn’t know,” Smollett chimed in.) In the episode, Cookie throws a rose and causes a scene, sparking strong reactions from everyone. Then: the slap. Yazz (a.k.a. Bryshere Gray), who plays Cookie’s youngest son Hakeem, might have let his gaze linger a little too long.

“I was like, ‘Yazz, I’m your mother!’ You can’t look at me like that!'” Henson said, laughing.

Lee Daniels and Danny Strong created this Fox drama about a kingpin of hip-hop (played by Terrence Howard) and his family, who fight him for control of the empire.
