Fans of happy little trees should take note of the video above. The official Bob Ross YouTube page has re-released the first-ever episode of The Joy of Painting, Ross’ serene and addictive painting series that aired on PBS from 1983 through 1994. Not that Ross anticipated such longevity during the premiere.

“For the next 13 weeks, I’ll be your host as we experience the joy of painting,” Ross said at the time. He goes on to explain that anyone can paint, and promises viewers that the manageable amount of paints and brushes he uses while painting “A Walk in the Woods” will be at the center of future works of art.

“Let’s do it. Let’s paint a picture, right here,” Ross said before going into his tutorial. Grab some titanium white, and watch above.
