Mario Lopez has joined the cast of Grease: Live, Fox’s live TV adaptation of the popular Broadway play and 1978 film about two teens whose summer romance unexpectedly continues, even as they’re pulled in different directions.

The Extra host will play Vince Fontaine, who emcees a televised dance competition at Rydell High.

Lopez joins a cast including Julianne Hough as Sandy, Aaron Tveit as Danny, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, and Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy. Jessie J will open the proceedings performing of a new version of “Grease (Is the Word).”

The show represents Fox’s first foray into primetime event musicals, following on NBC’s hit The Sound of Music Live in 2013 and rather less successful Peter Pan Live last December.

Grease: Live is set to air Jan. 31, 2016.
