Beauty Behind The Madness

The first music video for “The Hills” tracked The Weeknd after a car crash. The new one puts you there, too.

The pop star released a video for the remix, starring Eminem of his No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single Tuesday, and the new take is a remix in and of itself. If using Google Chrome, Firefox, or the YouTube mobile app, users can point and drag around, a la Google Earth. The “virtual reality experience” comes via GoPro cameras. The incendiary car, in this case, isn’t on a residential street, but rather a parking lot behind whatever venue The Weeknd was likely rocking.

In conjunction with his Saturday Night Live appearance, The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) released two remixes of “The Hills,” one with Slim Shady, the other with Nicki Minaj. They’re not the only artists jumping in: Kanye West released his own take on “Tell Your Friends,” which he produced.
