Sorry, Donald Trump — you don’t actually have a Marvel hero’s endorsement.

After Anthony Mackie told BET that he was impressed by Trump and his campaign, his comments set the internet on fire on Monday. The actor quickly tweeted that he wasn’t serious about throwing his support behind the presidential candidate.

“Sorry Donald, that wasn’t an endorsement. Just a bad attempt at a joke, I guess?” he tweeted.

The Our Brand is Crisis and Captain America star was asked by BET if he’d want to run Trump’s campaign or Hillary Clinton’s, and he chose the former, calling him an “easy sell” to American voters.

“You can sell him as the guy who worked his way up from nothing,” he said. “And I think if you’re a ‘pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ candidate, people would identify with that.”

“I’m on the bandwagon,” Mackie added when asked if he was giving an endorsement to Trump. “I’m drinking the Kool-Aid.”
