As Entertainment Weekly turns 25, we look back at the popular – and puzzling – cover choices.

In 1990, k.d. lang graced the cover of the first-ever issue of Entertainment Weekly, kicking off a storied legacy of pop culture cover stars. In the 25 years since, EW has printed more than 1,000 issues, featuring the biggest celebs in movies, TV, and music – some more successful than others.

So just who and what reigns supreme on the cover of EW? The past quarter-century has included 27 vampires, 16 fully-naked stars, and a whopping 18 covers starring Julia Roberts.
