Attention, fans of all things Lynchian: Your bible is coming. David Lynch, writer and director of Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet, and co-creator of the cult television program Twin Peaks, will publish Life & Work through Grand Central Publishing.

In true Lynch fashion, this won’t be your typical book: It will be a hybrid memoir (written by Lynch) and biography (written by former Los Angeles Times critic and journalist Kristine McKenna). While Lynch will detail his struggles and successes to bring his creative projects to life, according to a press release, McKenna’s sections feature interviews from about 90 of Lynch’s “friends, ex-wives, family members, actors, agents, musicians and collaborators in various fields.” Lynch will read and respond to the interviewees’ words, “essentially riffing on his own life.”

“There’s a lot of bullsh– out there about me, in books and all over the Internet,” Lynch says in the release. “I want to get all the information in one place, so if someone wants to know something, they can find it here. And I wouldn’t do it with anyone other than Kristine; she and I go way back, and she gets it right.”

Says McKenna, “After having my mind blown by Eraserhead in the late ’70s, I tracked David down to interview him, and I’ve been writing about him ever since. His imagination is inexhaustible, his work grows increasingly complex and beautiful, and it’s a privilege to be working with him on Life & Work.

Life & Work is slated for publication in 2017.
