Anthony Mackie would love to run Donald Trump's campaign
Add Anthony Mackie to the list of people enamored with the idea of Donald Trump. “I would 100 percent want to run Trump’s campaign,” Mackie told BET in a recent interview.
According to the Captain America star, Trump is an “easy sell” to American voters because of his background. “You can sell him as the guy who worked his way up from nothing,” Mackie said. “If you’re the pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps candidate, people will identify with that.” (Trump’s father, Fred Trump, was a wealthy businessman, whose estate was worth a reported $250 million upon his death in 1999.)
“I’m on the bandwagon,” Mackie said when asked if he was giving an endorsement to Trump. “I’m drinking the Kool-Aid.” (On Twitter, Mackie later clarified that his comments about endorsing Trump were made in jest. “Sorry Donald, that wasn’t an endorsement. Just a bad attempt at a joke, I guess?” he wrote.)
Despite Mackie’s enthusiasm, many celebrities have slammed Trump for his views on immigration and equal rights. Eva Longoria compared Trump’s remarks about Mexican immigrants to Adolf Hitler, while America Ferrera said the candidate’s words would unite Latino voters.
