Grateful Dead's Phil Lesh diagnosed with bladder cancer
Grateful Dead co-founder Phil Lesh announced Friday that he has been diagnosed with bladder cancer.
Lesh posted a message on the Facebook page of Terrapin Crossroads, his restaurant and concert venue, revealing that he has spent the last few weeks at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, receiving treatment. “I am very fortunate to have the pathology reports show that the tumors are all non aggressive, and that there is no indication that they have spread,” Lesh said.
Lesh also announced that two Phil & Friends concerts in late October are canceled, but he promised to “reschedule these shows as son as we can.”
In June and July, Lesh and his Grateful Dead bandmates embarked on their “Fare Thee Well” tour, performing their final shows in Santa Clara and Chicago.
