Melissa Leo and Sebastian Stan have joined the cast of Showtime’s one-hour pilot, I’m Dying Up Here, based on William Knoedelseder’s book of the same name, the network announced on Friday.

The pair is joined by Clark Duke, as well as previously announced cast members Ari Graynor, Andrew Santino, RJ Cyler, Erik Griffin, and Stephen Guarino. Set in 1970s-LA, I’m Dying Up Here focuses on the stand-up scene and those in the business of making others laugh.

Leo will play the role of Goldie, a comedy club owner known for her tough love, and Stan steps into the part of Clay, a comedian whose star is on the rise (he’s revered by former flame, Cassie, played by Graynor). Duke’s Larry moves from his hometown of Boston in the hopes of making it big in the comedy game. If picked up to series, Leo and Duke are set as regulars, while Stan would be a guest star.

Written by Dave Flebotte, who will also serve as executive producer alongside Jim Carrey and Michael Aguilar as well as Christina Wayne for Endemol Shine Studios and Assembly Entertainment. Jonathan Levine is slated to direct.
