Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. adds Powers Boothe in incredibly menacing role
Powers Boothe has joined the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a recurring role, EW has confirmed.
Boothe will recur as Gideon Malick, a notorious man whose loyalties remain a mystery. “Gideon is incredibly menacing and in him we have a character that even the stone-cold Grant Ward [Brett Dalton] would fear,” says executive producer Jeph Loeb. “Only someone of Powers’ caliber could deliver the type of ominous and powerful performance we needed.”
Boothe, whose TV credits include Nashville and 24, is portraying the same previously unnamed character that he did in Marvel’s The Avengers, who was a member of the World Security Council.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) assembles a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to handle strange new cases.
