Josh Gad is ready to get in the ring.

WWE Studios has announced that Gad his writing partner Ryan Dixon will pen the upcoming biopic of wrestler George Raymond Wagner, a.k.a. Gorgeous George.

Gorgeous George will follow the life of Wagner, a beloved professional wrestler in the 1940s and ‘50s who helped popularize televised sports. His theatrical persona in the ring is credited with inspiring performers like James Brown and Muhammad Ali.

WWE Studios and Robert Halmi Jr.’s Great Point Media will co-develop Gorgeous George. “Gorgeous George was a true pioneer in television,” WWE Studios president Michael Luisi said. “Josh is a true talent and we are thrilled to see him and Ryan tackle such a groundbreaking story.”

Gad recently wrapped Bill Condon’s upcoming Beauty and the Beast, and he will soon appear as Roger Ebert in the biopic Russ & Roger.
