Brooklyn: Saoirse Ronan meets Domhnall Gleeson in new trailer
Far from her home in Ireland, Eilis Lacey finds herself starting a new life in 1950s New York in the new U.K. trailer for John Crowley’s Brooklyn, adapted for the big screen by Nick Hornby.
Based on Colm Tóibín’s 2009 novel, Saoirse Ronan stars as Eilis, a young Irish immigrant who moves to Brooklyn following World War II. Though she experiences bouts of homesickness, she eventually settles in with the help of an Italian boy named Tony (Emory Cohen). The new trailer shows Eilis’ first meeting with Jim Farrell (Domhnall Gleeson) who – when Eilis is forced to return home – will make her decision whether to stay in Ireland or return to America that much more difficult.
Brooklyn debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and will officially arrive in theaters Nov. 4.
