'Beauty and the Beast' cancelled after fourth season
It’s official: The fourth season of Beauty and the Beast will be the last.
The CW has confirmed the next season of the crime-fantasy-romance will be the final outing for Catherine and Vincent.
The final season will be 13 episodes and will air either in midseason or next summer. A premiere date will be announced at a later time.
In a way, fans are fortunate to have had the series for four seasons. Starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan, BATB has been considered “on the bubble” for renewal every year since launching in 2012 due to modest ratings. Season three shifted from The CW’s regular season to a summer run, and dropped from 22 episodes down to 13.
The good news: The show is still in production, and won’t wrap until next month. So producers have enough notice to craft a series finale that gives fans some closure.
