Lex Scott Davis to play Grammy-winning singer in adaptation of her memoir

Toni Braxton’s movie recently got a greenlight from Lifetime, and now it has acast.

Un-Break My Heart, “the authorized life story” that draws from the singer’s memoir of the same name, has tapped Lex Scott Davis, who appeared in an episode of The Exes, for the role of Braxton. (Braxton will guest-star as herself as well.)

Braxton’s mother, Evelyn, will be portrayed by Debbi Morgan (All My Children), while Gavin Houston (Guiding Light) will play Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. As for Braxton’s sisters, Cortney Scott Wright has been cast as Traci Braxton, Skye P. Marshall (Public Morals) as Towanda Braxton, LaToya Franklyn (Subways) as Trina Braxton and Tiffany Hines (Devious Maids) as Tamar Braxton.

Un-Break My Heart tell the story of the Grammy-winning artist through the events of her personal life and career, which include financial and family struggles, divorce, and chronic illness. Braxton is also one of the executive producers of the film, which will be directed by Vondie Curtis Hall (Abducted: The Carlina White Story) and written by Susan McMartin (Mom).

Production on Un-Break My Heart begins next week.
