In addition to discussing the hoverboard he rides around the Saturday Night Live offices, Pete Davidson appeared on Monday’s episode of Late Night to reflect on his SNL audition.
Davidson told Seth Meyers how he met Bill Hader on the set of Trainwreck and soon after, Hader surprised Davidson, telling him he recommended the comedian to Lorne Michaels. Davidson auditioned, and the rest is history.
“I got a call from NBC,” Davidson said. “And it’s Lorne Michaels, and he goes ‘Hello.’ And he was like ‘I don’t what to do with you, but you got the show.’”
Davidson said he wasn’t sure he actually got SNL because Lorne Michaels hung up quickly.
“I went home and was like ‘I think I got SNL. I think [Lorne Michaels] is already mad at me too.’”
