Lena Dunham’s interview with Hillary Clinton for her new newsletter with Jenni Konner, Lenny Letter, was a long time coming: The Girls writer and star went on The Ellen Show and revealed that she’s been a fan of Clinton’s since elementary school.
“That was a big deal for me because I actually wrote my first-ever term paper on her in first grade,” Dunham told Ellen DeGeneres before going on to praise Clinton for being “so open and lovely” during their interview.

“She really let us know sort of what it was like for her to be not just this huge political figure who we all know as larger than life and iconic, but to be sort of a confused women in her 20s and what that felt like,” Dunham said. “And she was DTH. Down to hang.”
