PETA’s 35th anniversary gala got a taste of the Beatles Wednesday night when Paul McCartney and Beck performed Rubber Soul‘s “Drive My Car” and Help!‘s “I’ve Just Seen a Face” — and according to videos collected by Spin, McCartney also went solo for some other Beatles songs including “Hey Jude,” “Let It Be,” “Blackbird,” and “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.”

But he couldn’t cover all the hits: “Thanks to @beck and everyone at #PETA35!” McCartney tweeted Thursday morning. “Sorry we didn’t get to play Beck In the USSR, Get Beck or Paperbeck Writer!” Oh, Paul — what a jokester.

McCartney and the Beatles gave PETA another huge gift earlier this week when they announced that the organization could use “Can’t Buy Me Love” in new ad campaigns free of charge.
