Late Night with Seth Meyers: Planned Parenthood segment airs
On Wednesday night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, host Seth Meyers’ segment “A Closer Look” took a deep-dive into the recent congressional hearing during which Republicans questioned the president of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards.
Meyers kicked off the segment by giving some background on the Planned Parenthood controversy, which according to an NBC poll Meyers cited hasn’t had much of an impact on the popularity of the organization. Planned Parenthood ranks higher than Barack Obama, the Republican party, and Donald Trump.
The host went on to show footage from the congressional hearings as Richards was questioned, including this query posed by Congressman John Duncan Jr.:
“I’ve seen many male witnesses treated much tougher than you’ve been treated here today,” Duncan said. “Surely you don’t expect us to be easier on you because you’re a woman?”
But as Meyers points out, there is at least one Republican who is against abortions, but agrees Planned Parenthood serves a point: Trump.
