Kanye West for president? Kim Kardashian stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday to chat about her husband’s big announcement, and according to her, West is “serious” about throwing his hat in the political ring.

At this year’s VMAs, West took the stage to accept the trophy for the Video Vanguard Award, and concluded his acceptance speech by announcing he’d be running for president in 2020 – a major move his wife didn’t even know about.

“I believe he is serious and I know that if he puts his mind to something, he’ll do his best,” she told DeGeneres. “It’s been fascinating just hearing all of the conversations that have gone on since that announcement. I don’t know if that was planned and I just didn’t know about it, or if he came up with that idea right then and there.”

West may have admitted he smoked a bit of “something” before the speech, but he does have some support from the Democratic Party (the official DNC Twitter account shared their approval of West’s potential run shortly after the announcement).
