Earlier this year, iconic cult director John Waters gave a commencement speech to Rhode Island School of Design about the value of embracing chaos and weirdness (two things the director of Pink Flamingos and Hairspray knows well). Today, Algonquin Books announced they have acquired the book rights to Waters’ speech. The book will be published under the title Make Trouble and will be illustrated with line drawings.

“Since I got in serious trouble in every school I ever went to, the chance to give college graduates career advice seems the perfect ironic end (or beginning?) to my damaged academic career,” Waters stated in a press release. “I hope this little book will become the perfect graduation gift from parents to their troubled children who have been driving them crazy for years.”

Make Trouble is currently planned for a spring 2017 release.
