Grey's Anatomy: Sarah Drew on the chances of an April-Jackson reconciliation
- TV Show
Now that April (Sarah Drew) has returned from the Middle East, she will do everything in her power to reunite with her husband Jackson (Jesse Williams) — but there’s a very big obstacle standing in their way during Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
As revealed in the sneak peek below, Kepner returned from the Army with a potential infectious disease, landing her in the quarantine bubble. “There is concern about something that she brings back from the war zone that forces her into a place where she is physically unable to run after her husband and try to talk to him,” Drew tells EW.
Still, April is hopeful for a reconciliation with Jackson, who gave her an ultimatum in the season finale that if she returned to the Army, he would not be there for her when she got back. “She will stop at nothing,” Drew says. “She is tenacious to a fault and persistent. She believes in her marriage vows. She believes there’s no possibility of divorce in her mind — that might not be exactly the same for Jackson. It’s going to be a really, really long process to try and get back into his good graces, but she’s fighting.”

“I truly believe that they both still desperately love one another, that love is still very much alive,” Drew continues. “If only she could’ve not made the choice that she made, if only he could un-remember that choice that she made, if only he could forgive it. We’ll see. That’s the hope is that there’s still a lot of love there.”
Though April may not be able to deal with her own problems while being quarantined, Drew says, “She becomes a bit of a priest in a confessional to several other doctors while stuck in a space unable to move, which is not her favorite thing in the world. There are some fantastic scenes inside the bubble. I’m excited.”
Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Meredith. Alex. Bailey. The doctors are definitely in on Shonda Rhimes' hospital melodrama.
