Chalk this up to Jon Hendren seizing the day.

The Twitter comedian, also known simply as @fart, was invited to HLN’s The Daily Share to discuss whistleblower Edward Snowden joining the social network on Tuesday.

Labeled as a “Snowden Supporter,” Hendren initially answered host Yasmin Vossoughian normally enough. “Why is Snowden any different from ISIS?” she asked. “He’s a hero, he’s doing what any one of us should’ve done in that situation,” Hendren replied. “He’s got a voice, he’s been isolated for so long. He’s got valid things to say, we should listen to what he says.”

Normal. But things went off the rails when she followed up in asking if Snowden’s actions, which could have caused more harm, were worth it. “I think to cast him out, to make him invalid in society, simply because he has scissors for hands, I mean that’s strange,” Hendren said with a stone-cold serious expression. Obviously, he’s talking about him, not him.

Hendren is still unsure why he was brought on the show in the first place. “I honestly don’t know,” he tells Esquire. “I got an email last night asking if I wanted to come on and replied immediately saying, ‘Yes I absolutely would,’ before I even read the entire email.”

HLN did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.
