It’s been some time since the final Twilight film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, hit theaters, but Robert Pattinson still remembers the impact of the mega-fandom that surrounded the franchise.

“I had people sitting outside my house every single day, and it drove me crazy,” Pattison told British magazine NME, according to People.

Pattinson starred as the mysterious vampire Edward Cullen, opposite Kristen Stewart’s heroine Bella Swan, in the wildly popular films. The franchise spawned five movies over the course of five years, keeping the limelight on Pattinson and his costars. But, things have changed a bit in the years that followed, according to the actor, who says he didn’t go to the supermarket “for about six years.”

“But now I can go in and chat to the guy who’s working there about his kids, or where he’s going on holiday, and not be thinking, ‘Is he gonna sell me out?’” Pattinson said. “I just don’t have to think about that stuff anymore.”

Robert Pattinson’s next film, Life, finds the actor starring as photographer Dennis Stock, who profiles a young James Dean (played by Dane DeHaan) for Life magazine.

For more soundbites, head on over to People before the entire interview hits on Friday.
