Sia releases Alive, Adele's co-written track
We may have to wait until November to hear Adele sing new tunes, but Sia released a new song Thursday that has hints of the famed British singer, who co-wrote the track with Sia and indie singer-songwiter Tobias Jesso Jr. The song, called “Alive,” was originally meant for Adele to sing herself.
It’s the lead single from Sia’s new album, This Is Acting, which is comprised of songs originally intended for other artists to sing. When she spoke about the album in an interview with RTV Slovenija, she mentioned “Alive.”
“It’s about [Adele’s] life, so I now sing a song from [Adele’s] perspective,” she said.
Sia first confirmed the album back in February and told NME, “I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go in thinking ‘this is something I would say,’” she said. “It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.” Sia’s writing credits include songs sung by Beyoncé, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Flo Rida, Ed Sheeran, and more.
