As EW celebrates all things Shondaland throughout September, we asked Alexandra Patsavas, Shonda Rhimes’ longtime music supervisor, to take fans through some of the most iconic music moments from Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder. Ahead, Patsavas picks the most memorable songs from HTGAWM, and teases one from Thursday’s season 2 premiere.

“It’s been a thrilling week at Shondaland in anticipation of tonight’s #TGIT Premiere. (Heartfelt and enthusiastic Congratulations to Viola Davis on her Emmy win!)” Patsavas tells EW. “How To Get Away With Murder creator and executive producer Pete Nowalk defined and crafted the sound of his show during the pilot and it was such a privilege to be part of that process. He was very sure of the show’s musical signature and selected songs with a dark, driving, tense, rhythmic, moody and electronic feel. (Pete often synchs the show with underground international tunes and remixes.) Here are some of my favorite songs from Season 1 and a sneak peak at a song that will air in the Season 2 opener.”

Viola Davis stars as a law professor where she teaches, wait for it, how to get away with murder.
