Terry Deitz was a challenge beast when he last played on Survivor; Panama—Exile Island. But 10 years later, at the age of 55, does he still have what it takes to dominate in competitions? We asked Terry exactly that when we spoke out on location the day before Survivor: Cambodia—Second Chance (which premieres Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS) began, and to see his answer, just click on the video above.

We also asked Terry if he started to lose hope that the show would ever have him back on, and it turns out the answer is yes. “It was probably after the second Blood and Water when the newbies came along and they kind of stuck us out there. I pretty much said, “That’s it. I’m done.” And lo and behold, another year later I’m getting a phone call.”

So it turns out Terry lost hope once they went to an all-newbie format that season, but his second chance was just around the corner. Check out the video above for more Deitz!
