Ryan Reynolds’ new movie, Mississippi Grind, is about gamblers, so of course when the actor stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, a game of Slapjack was in the cards.

For those who don’t remember, Slapjack is a Jimmy Fallon original, where the late-night host and his guest play blackjack with a twist: the loser gets slapped in the face with a giant prosthetic hand. As Reynolds asked: “Do we have NFL concussion protocol?” They do not.

Reynolds’ new film made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, just one month after his daughter with wife Blake Lively was born. During the interview portion of Reynolds Tonight Show appearance — the part where he didn’t get slammed in the face — the 38-year-old talked about fatherhood and how his daughter calls him “mama.”
