Fresh off its well-received Toronto premiere, The Martian is coming to New York.
The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced that a sneak preview of The Martian will screen in RealD 3-D at the 53rd New York Film Festival on Sept. 27. Directed by Ridley Scott, the adaptation of Andy Weir’s bestselling novel stars Matt Damon as astronaut Mark Watney. When a sandstorm forces his crewmates to evacuate, Watney is left for dead on Mars. Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara, and Jessica Chastain also star.
The Martian joins the festival’s already packed slate, with Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk set as the opening film. Don Cheadle’s Miles Ahead will close out the festival, and Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies will make its world premiere there. Other screenings include Todd Haynes’ Carol, Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs, Michael Moore’s Where To Invade Next, and Rebecca Miller’s Maggie’s Plan.
The New York Film Festival runs Sept. 25 through Oct. 11. For ticket information and more on the festival, visit filmlinc.org/nyff2015.
The Martian arrives in theaters on Oct. 2.
