In honor of the mean tweets Jimmy Kimmel received following his appearance at the 67th annual Emmy Awards, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host put together another edition of his popular Mean Tweets segment on Monday night. But with a twist: Instead of banking video footage of celebrities reading the nasty tweets that get sent their way over the course of weeks and months, Kimmel had Jeff Bridges, Kristen Bell and Benedict Cumberbatch appear on the show to read the missives live.

“Am now convinced Jeff Bridges is a crazy motherf—–, and not in a cool way,” read Bridges, “just in a disturbed, hobo-shouting-at-sparrows-and-sidewalks way.”

Bell was next: “Kristen Bell seems like such a b—-, her vagina is probably an Alcatraz for penis,” she read, and then winked at the camera as she walked off stage.

But it was Cumberbatch who appeared to most embrace the “live” portion of this version of Mean Tweets. “If you find Benedict Cumberbatch attractive, I’m guessing you’d also quite enjoy staring directly at a cat’s anus,” he said while breaking up with laughter. Then the Sherlock star got the last word: “Well, someone did, and they put a ring on it.” Cue audience howls.

The Mean Tweets Live segment is not yet online, but video will be added to this post if and when ABC posts the clip. Expect many more celebrities to come face to face with their online detractors over the next few days: Kimmel promised that Mean Tweets Live will run for the entire week.
