The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

  • TV Show

On Thursday night’s episode of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert focused on the junior high-like qualities of the previous night’s Republican debates — from Donald Trump ridiculing Rand Paul’s appearance to Jeb Bush admitting that he smoked marijuana 40 years ago.

When Rand Paul confronted Donald Trump on his “visceral response to attack people on their appearance,” Trump did exactly that.

“I never attacked him on his look and believe me there’s plenty of subject matter right there,” Trump responded.

A beaming Colbert couldn’t resist the urge to address Trump’s own appearance.

“That’s a good dig by a man who looks like a microwave circus peanut,” Colbert said. The host said Trump also resembled “a honey-glazed tiger testicle” and “a catheter bag full of candy corn.”

Rand Paul again put himself on the firing line, addressing the hypocrisy of Jeb Bush because he “smoked pot in high school.”

“That explains a lot. He isn’t low energy, he’s baked,” Colbert said.

Watch the clip below to see Colbert realize the debate is actually just an intervention for Jeb Bush.
