Janis Joplin didn’t just wear her heart on her sleeve, she decorated her own car with her psychedelic vision. Although Joplin famously sang about wanting a “Mercedes Benz,” her vehicle of choice was a Porsche. The iconic car was covered with colorful illustrations of butterflies, jellyfish, and Joplin herself, and served as a calling card for the singer. Now, the car is up for auction and can be yours.

After Joplin’s untimely death in 1970, the Porsche was driven by her manager, and it’s been on display in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1995. But the Joplin family has now decided to auction it off, and the car will be sold as a part of RM Sotheby’s “Driven By Disruption” event on Dec. 10.

“Wherever Janis went in the car, her fans recognized it. When she parked it and returned, there was always at least one (fan) note under the wipers,” the singer’s sister and biographer Laura Joplin told Yahoo.
