  • Bill Paxton is in talks for James Ponsoldt’s The Circle, an adaptation of Dave Eggers’ novel that already has Tom Hanks, Emma Watson, John Boyega, and Karen Gillan on board. Ponsoldt is writing and directing the film, which he is also producing with Hanks, and others. As for the story, the novel follows a young woman who takes a job at an online monopoly named the Circle, and quickly becomes a thriller about the dangers of the digital age and a lack of privacy.   • Adam Brody will appear opposite Dax Shepard and Michael Pena in CHiPs, a remake of the 1970’s TV series that also has Rosa Salazar in talks to join and Vincent D’Onofrio set as the villain. The original followed Officer Jon Baker (Larry Wilcox) and Officer Frank Poncherello (Erik Estrada) as they worked on the highways of California; the remake will similarly see Shepard assume the role of Baker, with Pena as Poncherello and Brody as another officer on the force. Shepard is writing and directing the film, and his Shepard’s Primate Pictures is producing along with Andrew Panay. The original show’s creator, Rick Rosner, is executive producing. [Variety]
  • Adrien Brody has been cast as the lead in Expiration, which will have him as an ex-CIA agent gone rogue named Bobby. The film tracks a poisoned Bobby as he attempts to uncover his murderer and see the woman he loves once more—all in his final day left to live. Brian Tucker wrote the script for the thriller, which Brody will co-produce through his Fable House production company. [Deadline]
  • Catherine Keener is set to star in Little Pink House, which centers on the 2005 Kelo v. City of New London Supreme Court decision. Keener will assume the role of Connecticut nurse Susette Kelo, who was pivotal in an eminent domain battle with the city of New London, Connecticut over the Fort Trumbull neighborhood—her name ultimately became attached to the case and her pink house became a symbol in the struggle. Courtney Moorehead Balaker is writing and directing the film, which is based on writer Jeff Benedict’s non-fiction book of the same name. [Deadline]
  • Perez Hilton, Shekhar Kapur, and WWE star John Morrison have signed on for Adi Shankar’s Gods and Secrets. Adi Shankar (executive producer on Dredd, The Grey) and Stewart Yost are co-directing the film, marking Shankar’s directorial debut. The story looks at the darker side of superherodom, exploring the consequences for both the people being protected and the heroes protecting them. Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone star, with Sharni Vinson, Andy Milonakis, Dallas Page, Denise Richards, Jane Seymour, RJ Mitte, Max Adler, and Josh Sussman in the ensemble.
