Yes, that's the actual title.
Kingdom hearts 358/2 Days. Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Kingdom Hearts χ. There’s no shortage of bizarrely named titles in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and the newly announced remaster certainly doesn’t disappoint in that department.
At the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix announced Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, a remaster of an old Kingdom Hearts game, along with two additional inclusions meant to fill out the franchise’s story.
Despite rumors of a Kingdom Hearts 2.9 in the last week, 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue brings a remaster of the 3DS title Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, which was not included in either of the previous HD collections the series has seen. Additionally, 2.8 comes with Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Back Cover, which is a movie that connects to the story and characters of browser game Kingdom Hearts χ, and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage –, which is a new playable adventure featuring Aqua from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, which is intended to tie the story of that prequel title to the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III.
No release date or rating has been set for 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, but the actual title and what the package contains could be seen as somewhat of a disappointment. The new title is being developed only for the PlayStation 4, and yet the previous two HD collections in the franchise were only released on the PlayStation 3. If there’s any validity to the rumored Kingdom Hearts 2.9 title being a separate game, then it wouldn’t be shocking to see the HD collections and 2.8 collected into one package before the release of Kingdom Hearts III. The anticipated threequel is releasing on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so it would only make sense to prime as many players as possible before the new release.
But for now, 2.8 and III are the only confirmed major releases. Disney and Square Enix continue a slow rollout of news about the latter, most recently confirming that Big Hero 6 would be featured in the game.
