Hart to Hart reboot with gay couple in the works at NBC
NBC is remaking the 1980s mystery TV series Hart to Hart — with a twist. The reboot, from producer Carol Mendelsohn and Sony TV, will center on a crime-fighting gay couple, EW has confirmed.
The 1979–1984 ABC series, which starred Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers as a high-rolling husband-and-wife sleuthing team, spawned eight TV movies and a Golden Globe win for supporting actor Lionel Stander, who played the eponymous couple’s butler and chauffeur.
The new series, which comes from writer Christopher Fife (Revenge) and has received a script commitment, is planned to be a sexy retelling of the original, centered around the crime-solving adventures of by-the-book attorney Jonathan Hart and free-wheeling investigator Dan Hartman. The news was first reported by Deadline.
EW reunited the original Hart to Hart duo in 2013, with Amy Poehler and Adam Scott serving as special correspondents. Check out it out in the video below.
