Doctor Strange: Rachel McAdams joins Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel movie
Rachel McAdams will work her magic opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange.
EW has confirmed that the Midnight in Paris and The Notebook actress is set to join the upcoming installment of Marvel Studios’ blockbuster cinematic universe, which is to tell the story of neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch).
Details have yet to be revealed about McAdams’ role in the film, which is being directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Day the Earth Stood Still). She joins a cast including Tilda Swinton as Strange’s mentor, the Ancient One, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as the villainous Baron Mordo.
McAdams has kept up a busy pace of late, with roles in the romantic comedy Aloha, the boxing drama Southpaw, the second season of HBO’s True Detective, and the upcoming fact-based drama Spotlight. She has been in discussions with Marvel about Doctor Strange for several months, and first confirmed her involvement to the Wrap on Monday.
Doctor Strange is slated to hit theaters Nov. 4, 2016.
