Even vampires can be parents, and we’re not talking biologically. The closest thing most vampires — hybrids aside — have to a biological child is a progeny, otherwise known as a vampire they create. But here’s the thing about vampires being parents: They’re typically not very good at it.

And that’s the idea heading into season 3 of The Originals, in which Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah come face-to-face with the first vampires they sired, and much like their “parents,” these vampires have some anger issues. In the first trailer for the show’s third season, Klaus is his usual tempermental self, but this time around he isn’t fighting his parents or even Marcel. Now, there’s a sire war brewing, and as Freya puts it, “you will all fall.” Uplifting, right?
