What if in When Harry Met Sally…, Sally Albright wasn’t a neurotic prude, but a sex addict? (Certainly changes the tenor of Sally’s days-of-the-week underpants scene.)

In an oversimplified way, that’s the premise of Sleeping With Other People, the R-rated romantic comedy that pairs Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie. Like Harry and Sally, Jake and Lainey met in college. Unlike Harry and Sally, they had sex and then went their separate ways — until 12 years later, when they reconnect at a self-help meeting for sex addicts. Turns out they have more in common than bad decison-making, and as long as they don’t let the sexual tension get in the way, they might have a chance at real long-lasting friendship.

Sleeping is Leslye Headland’s directorial followup to Bachelorette, so yes, it’s for mature audiences who appreciate some artful debauchery. In this exclusive NSFW scene from the film, which opens Sept. 11, Jake accompanies Lainey shopping for some lingerie, but his attention gets sidetracked by the avalanche of increasingly agitated text messages from his latest random conquest. Fortunately, Lainey is there to explain how his breach of day-after etiquette unleashed the scorned gal’s inner Khaleesi.

Sleeping With Other People, which premiered at Sundance, also stars Adam Scott, Adam Brody, Jason Mantzoukas, Andrea Savage, and Natasha Lyonne. Here’s the film’s complete trailer:
