Julie Chen on The View: Barbara Walters could ruin her image by trying to save the ABC talk show
Barbara Walters, a co-host from The Talk is trying to look out for you.
While appearing on Tuesday’s installment of The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM, The Talk’s Julie Chen said it would hurt Walters’ image if she returned to The View in a valiant attempt to fix it.
Chen said that she and Walters were at the same event over the weekend, and that the “whole room” advised her to stay away from the ABC talk show that just began its 19th season Tuesday.
“She was toying with the idea of whether she should go back and save it,” said Chen, who was joined on Stern’s show with fellow Talk co-host Sharon Osbourne. “The whole room said, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Everyone told her, ‘Barbara that ship has sailed. No one can turn it around. Stay away. It will only hurt your image.'”
“You can’t have a part-time leader right that ship,” added Chen, who says that The View is “unrecognizable now.”
Stern then asked if Walters would ever consider appearing on The Talk — CBS’s daytime talk show that features an all-female panel of hosts. Chen thinks she would, but the ABC brass would likely block it. “She doesn’t want to piss off her bosses because she still has specials on ABC,” Chen said. “And she is a proper lady.”
The View returned Tuesday with mostly new hosts and the return of Joy Behar.
