Is Halloween really the scariest holiday? Not according to a clutch of upcoming films which would have us believe that Christmas is the most terrifying time of year. That list of movies includes Trick ‘r Treat filmmaker Michael Dougherty’s Krampus (out Dec. 4) and A Christmas Horror Story, which is released in theaters Oct. 2 and will also be available on VOD and via iTunes from that date.

Like Dougherty’s film, this anthology movie from directors Steven Hoban, Grant Harvey, and Brett Sullivan features the dreaded anti-Santa, Krampus. It also features one William Shatner and several diseased elves. And isn’t that what Christmas is really all about?
