Michael Fassbender rises to power in new Macbeth trailer

Something wicked this way comes.

The new trailer for the upcoming Macbeth offers a look at Michael Fassbender’s dark, bloodthirsty version of Shakespeare’s tragic hero, with Marion Cotillard as his power-hungry wife. Directed by Justin Kurzel, Macbeth also stars Paddy Considine, Sean Harris, David Thewlis, and Jack Reynor.

“I wasn’t seeking out to do Shakespeare at the time, when [producer] Iain Canning approached me,” Fassbender told EW. “But it was one of those things. You get the opportunity to do it and there was just no way I could have said no.”

Macbeth will hit select U.S. theaters on Dec. 4.
