The balcony is open for Josh Gad.

The Frozen and Book of Mormon star has inked a deal to portray iconic film critic Roger Ebert in the biographical comedy Russ & Roger, a spokesperson for STX Entertainment confirmed to EW.

Will Ferrell is already on board to play schlock filmmaker Russ Meyer in the Michael Winterbottom-directed movie, which will chronicle the making of the 1970 satirical musical melodrama Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

Ebert was a fledging critic when he teamed up with Meyer to co-write Dolls, a B-movie about the whacked-out adventures of a female rock band; it became one of the first X-rated films ever released by a major studio and is widely regarded as a cult classic.

Russ & Roger was written by Chris Cluess, with a polish by Winterbottom, Neil Gibbons, and Rob Gibbons.

Gad’s other upcoming movies include Sony’s Angry Birds and Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast remake.
