Hulk Hogan breaks silence on racist rant, asks for forgiveness on 'Good Morning America'
Hulk Hogan asked for forgiveness in an interview with Good Morning America Monday, a month after a video showing him going on an N-word-filled racist rant hit the Web and resulted in him being ousted by the wrestling company WWE.
In the interview with GMA‘s Amy Robach, Hogan said he made the comments “at the lowest point of my life to the point where I wanted to kill myself,” and that he had tossed the word around “like it was nothing.”
“I’m not a racist, I never should have said what I said,” he explains. “It was wrong, I’m embarrassed by it … Please forgive me. Please forgive me. I think if you look at the whole picture of who Hulk Hogan is, you can see over all the years that there’s not a racist bone in my body.”
He ended the interview by reflecting on what it means to be a public figure and to make a mistake.
“If everybody at their lowest point was judged on one thing they said and let’s just say in high school, you may have said one bad thing and all of a sudden, your whole career was wiped out today because of something you said 10 or 20 years ago, it’d be a sad world,” Hogan said. “People get better every day. People get better.”
